How Does it Work?
During an initial consultation, an evaluation of your mid-face is performed to develop a treatment plan tailored to your specific needs and aesthetic desires.
The procedure is performed as outpatient surgery, and patients can return home the day of their surgery. The procedure may be performed under either local anesthesia or IV sedation. As a stand-alone procedure, the buccal fat pad can be accessed through the inside of the cheek. During the procedure, slight incisions are gently made on the inside of the mouth. The buccal fat pad is then strategically modified or removed, resulting in a more refined and sculpted facial appearance without any visible scars. If a lifting procedure is being performed, the buccal fat pad may be accessed through that incision. Results offer patients an enhanced and youthful contour and an improved overall facial shape.
Following treatment, you will be sent home with recovery instructions to follow to achieve optimal results. Patients may experience swelling after surgery; however, the swelling will subside on its own within the weeks following treatment. After the swelling goes down, you can enjoy your thinner and more contoured facial shape.
