Let’s paint a picture together for a moment:
You arrive at a cocktail party with a stunning body, beautifully fitting dress, elegant high heel shoes, and make-up done; completely stunning to those watching you. As you walk in everyone stares in awe following your every move and angle.
This is what we as women strive for when it comes to our bodies. Therefore, it is imperative that you understand what a Brazilian Butt Lift means to one surgeon.
The Brazilian Butt lift is a misunderstood phrase used by many patients and surgeons. It is a sculpturing technique and not only fat transfer to the buttock. It is a dual procedure:
- Subtractive: removal of fat (or skin) that surrounds the gluteus in order to achieve an ideal form.
- Additive: placement of fat (or silicone implant) to specific defects in order to correct contouring and projection.
The “frame” (skin, fat, bone) should be adequately evaluated in order to determine how the gluteus (muscle) will appear after the Subtractive phase. Adding silicone implants or fat can then be decided upon by both, the patient and the surgeon.
Indications for major weight loss patients with more skin laxity than fat are not similar to those with more fat and good skin elasticity. Therefore, your decision should be based on your particular anatomy and medical condition in order to arrive at a realistic expectation.
